There is nothing like reading by the pool or at the beach! Summer is the perfect time to relax and finally read that book you have been meaning to read forever. Once you have finished that one, come back here for my favorite summer books to dive into!
1. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
This one may be a little bit obvious, especially since the show has been out in the last few years, but the books hold up! The Summer I Turned Pretty series by Jenny Han has the perfect vibes for a beach read. There is surfing, pool parties, the Fourth of July, carnivals and HEAPS of teen drama. What more could you want?

2. Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Daisy Jones and the Six is a very unique book. It is the story of the rise and fall of a band in the 70s- aka basically Fleetwood Mac fanfiction. What makes this book so special is that it is told entirely through interviews. I had never read a book like it when I picked it up and now I wish I had listened to it. Most of the book is set in LA and the imagery and the outfits and the drama give it the perfect summer vibe. Bonus: There is a GREAT TV show based on the book!

3. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams
When I am reading at the pool or at the beach, all I want is a low-stakes, tooth achingly cute romance and The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams is exactly that. It is a friends to lovers football romance that has the cutest group of supportive side characters EVER. The book is fun and goes by so fast, perfect for a vacation flight!

4. Heartless by Elsie Silver
One thing about me is that I LOVE a cowboy romance, especially in the summer! Elsie Silver is the queen of the cowboy romance in the last few years and I have DEVOURED all of them. Heartless is a single dad romance that has enough drama to keep the story going but is mostly just a wholesome story about a ranching family. AND it’s a series so if you love it as much as I do, you can keep on reading!

5. Mile High by Liz Tomforde
Mile High is a hockey romance where the FMC is a flight attendant on the team’s plane. You may be thinking, but isn’t hockey a winter sport? It is, however this book is such an easy and fun read that it had to make the list! Zanders and Stevie are the perfect couple to make your poolside read that much more enjoyable.

6. Fumbled by Alexa Martin
Fumbled is one of my all time favorite sports romances. It is on this list because I reread it every summer and it is incredible every time. This book follows Poppy, a single mom who runs into the father of her son who everyone is surprised to learn had no idea he had a kid. There is nothing I love more than a romance book where one character falls in love with family in addition to their partner. The book takes place in the summer so it has all of the perfect summer activities in addition to a cute story!

7. The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan
No matter how old you are, the Percy Jackson series is the perfect summer read, even my dad has read them all (hi Dad!). The series centers around a summer camp for the children of Greek gods and goddesses and the main character is the sassiest child known to man. All of the fun summer camp nostalgia comes back and the series feeds the Greek mythology obsession that I know we all had.

8. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
The Wrath and the Dawn is one of my favorite young adult romance books. Based on the ancient classic, One Thousand and One Nights, the book is a beautifully written story of stories. The desert heat and incredibly clever female main character make this duology a summer must-read!

9. To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
Alexandra Christo weaves an exciting tale of pirates and sirens in her debut novel. If you are like me and you love to rewatch the Pirates of the Caribbean every summer, this book is for you! I personally love this book because it has much more of a unique take on the mermaid/prince narrative without it being a slightly more daring version of The Little Mermaid. For those looking for a more swashbuckling type summer, this one’s for you!

10. The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks
There is nothing Nicholas Sparks loves more than a cozy beach romance novel, and there is nothing I love more than reading a Sparks novel in the summer, it’s the perfect match! The last song has a special place in my heart because I grew up on Miley Cyrus! The movie inspired me to read this novel and now I highly recommend it. It has love, grief, beaches, shoplifting and baby sea turtles! If you love the movie, or really any Nicholas Sparks movie, The Last Song should definitely be on your summer reading list!

I will say- sometimes reading by the pool can be impossible because of how freaking bright it can be! The Kindle Paperwhite is the most insane product because no matter how crazy the sun is, it has no glare and you can still see every word! You can get one here.
